Looks like I'm gonna be getting in the SM way sooner than I thought! Had 3 great skippy races today. IR up to 1826 from 1624 (my first two races in the skippy were nightmares) and SR to 3.91 from 3.46. Looking forward to getting some 'pro tips' from Oscar  Razz

First race in the GT3 Challenge and it was a complete nightmare. It's a B Class series and it was the top split but it had some of the stupidest drivers I've ever come across on iRacing.

About 3-4 guys on a team constantly crashing out and then coming back on track. Then another guy forced a 3 wide and turned in on another car and caused a massive pile-up. And on the pace lap, on of the guys on a team was constantly brake checking and swerving. Enevitably, he caused a pileup. 19 incidents in the whole race  Sad Sad Sad

At least I started 24th and finished 12th. I think I got a hefty iRating bonus but I can't check since the Member Site is down again!

Awesome dude. You've almost reached 2000 iRating too, Congrats!

What car are you thinking of racing?

Honestly haven't a clue. I like the multi-class, the open wheel and wanting to drive the RUF. It'll be a tough decision. Thought/ideas where to go next?

I all really depends on whether you want to race around 2-3 cars at once (which is what I'm doing but it's a bit stressful lol and I wouldn't recommend it) or focus on one car and finish well and be quick in qualifying.

In Season 1 2013, I got a C License and stuck in the Skip Barber and a little bit of oval for around 7 weeks and it made learning other cars a hell of a lot easier.

Do you still like racing the Skip Barber or do you want to move into something faster?

I just want to get in the fast cars lol. The skippy is fun and all, but I fall asleep on the straights :p

But I must say, more LMR members need to get their ass onto iRacing. I was good at forza motorsport but not to the level some others of our club our and I believe I'm doing pretty bang on in my first 2-3 weeks (top 17% in iRating among active road racers) . It would be awesome to see what others could do. The racing is epic, even just the iRacing structured series and I have yet to delve into a good private series. I think we as a club can bring a lot to the table and be a very formidable club.

+1. Just had my first race in the star Mazda for this season at spa, stuck behind a guy all race occasionally got by him but he was stronger in the middle section and always got back through. Then on the run to the bus stop he starts to splutter and can't get the run out, i just beat him by 0.064 of a second.

Nice one Jay! It must have been pretty close the entire race. I gave the RUF one more chance at redemption but boom, I get T-Boned on lap one and so much damage that I'm getting 141 down the straight. No more GT3 Challenge for me!  Smile

I'll probably race the Star or something that I'm used to to get my iRating up for the FW31

First of all, it's Brendan remember Wink and yes the gap never went over 2 seconds. I pretty much hate what they did to the RUF track but taking out the loud noise on downshifting (i can probably adapt to the real way but i prefer the old RUF). I might give it a go on Monday but not sure if i will continue running

The only reason you're coming across bad drivers like that is because it's in the Rookie series. Even in a D series the racing can be a bit crazy but Rookie's is known everywhere to be a bad place to race

First Oval race, didn't qualify (Huge mistake) and caught up in turn 1 mess salvaged 8th. Second race, qualified 6th in the split (2/4), clean race from every one, battled for ever position 3+ laps and battled the leader from lap 25-40 (never more than 0.7 between us), got around him with 2 to go and won!

Man that was hellufun. Might become an Oval racer now Razz.

Needed that race since the SM has been frustrating me so far. Just need more seat time with it.

You don't have to qualify to do good in street stock races mike. I got a c-licence by fast tracking in the street stock and i either started towards the back (by not qualifying) or by starting from pit lane. Plus congrats on the win  cheers

I'm going to see if my brothers computer can run iRacing, if so i'd just be missing a racing wheel.

Is using an xbox 360 pad bad for iRacing? I'd assume its much better with a wheel, but is it playable and can you be competitive with a pad?

You CAN use a pad but it's supposedly extremely difficult which means you'd have to drive really slow and inevitably bad finishes. You can try it though, message me on Facebook before you even sign up so I can give you a few tips  Smile

Wooooo! 4th in the iGPS race in the middle split giving me 149 points. I also want to give a big round of applause to Juan Luis after an 8th position in the first split giving him 153 points.

Thanks to Uros too for supplying me with an AWESOME race set-up. I was running 1:17.7's consistently on race fuel. This has been a good week for LMR on iRacing!  Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
