Re: Round 1: Road America
As with weather from Season 3, the fastest qualifying times were in or around 2:01.9's to mid 2:02's. We have a month to prepare for this one. I'd also like to welcome Omar Zanchi on to the team. He'll be racing in the #71 car with Juan, Riley and Myself so a big warm welcome to him.
Can I please request the you all use TeamSpeak more often. This is what we'll be using to communicate and spot for each other during qualifying and racing. Text and Voice chat is Strictly Forbidden (even auto text) during the race. If you don't have a mic (I know not everyone does) you should still have a pair of headphones at least (even earbud's for an iPod) please try and set your TeamSpeak volume so that you can hear what we're saying while you're driving. We can use the Spot function too, but TeamSpeak will be easier for us all to use together.
You can get the TS3 Details on these forums.

Re: Round 1: Road America
Hi guys, thanks for the warm welcome
As I said in the presentation thread it's a pleasure for me to be a part of these two teams, I know it's a very tough challenge against most of the top teams on iRacing, I promise I'll give my very best!
Usually I'm online in the weekends, especially in the afternoon, I hope to see you soon.

Re: Round 1: Road America
Are there any weight penalties for each of the cars? I'm pretty sure the BMW wasn't very fast at Road America this season. I think I was doing 2:03 flat in it.

I don't think so. If the Ford GT3 isn't released they plan to have a vote on whether they drop the car altogether or either run it with a lot of ballast. Z4 isn't the quickest, but it is really stable so should be less of a handful in the long run compared to the McLaren which swaps ends really easy on really old tyres.
Re: Round 1: Road America
I'm wondering if a driver can drive in two different stints in the same race.
Let's assume a 6 hours race, 3 drivers, A,B and C.
Ideally it should be:
A 2 hours, then
B 2 hours and then
C 2 hours.
Is it possibile to do something like:
A 1 hour, then
B 1 hour, then
C 1 hour and then AGAIN
A 1 hour, then
B 1 hour, then
C 1 hour

I'm sure a driver can get back into the car, if that what you're getting at. It's an interesting point though.

Re: Round 1: Road America
Yeah you can swap drivers when ever you like and can race for as long as you like. It's something like all drivers have to complete 2 laps or something (excl. those who need a sub).
Re: Round 1: Road America
Hey any chance of having a get togehter practice session with as many of the team as we can get before qualifying

Yeah we are planning to set up a few sessions at times when most everyone can make it.

Re: Round 1: Road America
I'm pretty sure I can race any time. I do nothing on Saturdays so I can start off the race if needs be. The car will do 65 minutes on full fuel, so maybe we could do 3/4 tank and race for 1.5 hours each? I doubt the tyres will be great after 45 minutes so it just might be faster in the long run. I did out a little plan (NOTE this is just an idea to pitch)
12:00 --- 13:30 - Driver 1
13:30 --- 15:00 - Driver 2
15:00 --- 16:30 - Driver 3
16:30 --- 18:00 - Driver 4
18:00 --- 19:30 - Driver 1
19:30 --- 21:00 - Driver 2
21:00 --- 22:30 - Driver 3
22:30 --- 00:00 - Driver 4
OR
We could do 2 full fuel runs each and have 2 drivers do 4 hours and 2 drivers doing 2 hours. I personally think the 3/4 Tank idea would make the car a little less heavy and would give us a nice amount of grip for most of the stint. We can also work our who does what according to time-zones Smile

Re: Round 1: Road America
This goes for both cars. You guys need to start plotting out who's doing what as the race is not far now.

Re: Round 1: Road America
Well, I can race between 12:00 and 17:00 but I wouldn't like to start off the race because my nerves would get the best of me
So I'm in for the second and third stints

Unfortunately I can't practice tonight. Let me know how go your session will go
P.S.: Pay attention that only one session has the right weather, the other one is set to 18°C instead of 23°C

Re: Round 1: Road America
BMW Z4 now has 15kg Ballast. There will be a practice race tomorrow evening - at least an hour after the Racespot 24 hour race finishes at 5pm. Need to test the gridding procedure and general stuff, so we'll have a separate qualifying team session (30-60min), then a short practice/quali going into a 90 or 120 minute race.

What GMT time will that be? I plan on racing the SOF races in star mazda.

Re: Round 1: Road America
5pm GMT. I'm away for the day so I can't attend but I'd be expecting that some of the Team II guys go practice too. Qualifying is next week and I've barely seen any practice.
