Tuning assistance?! Empty Tuning assistance?!

Post by LMR DarthMario Thu May 09, 2013 8:36 am

i seem to be struggling a tad with the '07 Civic Type-R. was in a lobby yesterday with Venom and CQR Vtec, and they both managed mid 17's (VTec is in the same Type-R as well), and me in the mid 18's. Sad managed to hit an 18.2, but like i always do, i dont save that setup, tweak it, end up running slower, and cannot find that faster tune again

i've got a low-hp build used from Infineon IRL, and a heavier-more powerful build (which was initially faster)

these are for Sebring Short for the upcoming round of the TCC/NATCC. the lower hp build was from Infineon IRL with just lowered downforce.

only assist is the "braking only" line

I took it around I only got 17.8 with the lower hp build and i was getting 18.3 with the higher one as for the tunes they felt pretty good for what they were I wouldnt change much I suggest just looking for the braking zones that will help you get into and out of corners faster and I found staying in fourth gear near the back section before the straight made me go about 3-4 tenths faster later tonight hit me up to have a practice session.

got a tune off XPR Venom the other day (think his way of trying to tempt me over to XPR), which netted me a 1:17.972 after finally trying it out, but the left rear was accruing damage, so i've raised the ride height a little bit to avoid the damage, and surprisingly gained roughly 1/4 second. now at a 1:17.751. still have to find another 2 tenths to match his Megane

The Megane and the Kia are way too quick, decent drivers using them yea, but they are the fastest FWD tested I think and the tracks won't really allow RWD to gain much ground as far as championship points go.

Try and aim for a P.B and not what they're doing in their car mate Smile

Oh yea, I always take it the same no matter what car i'm in, slow entry fast exit, there is NO perfect line on the last bend but I think there's about 3 or 4 ways to take at that are equally as fast.

i take the corner just like i do with the TEC Corvette, or any race car basically. drift out across the white line to the left to set myself up to hug the wall as close as i can at the apex, without crossing the black line in the center of the corner. the further out you are from the inside wall, the harder the bump you take. Just having a little consistency issue adjusting to the fact i'm in a FWD Civic, not a RWD machine for this track, and these aren't carrying as much speed as, say the TEC Vette.

i was more consistent in the race than i was in practice. Razz had a 1:18.2 in qually which netted pole. won race 1 (first TORA race win for me in 2013), and 2nd in the other two, which gave me top points for the meeting. there were some 17.8's i hit during the races though. Smile

Not going to have much time to practice for Round 7 @ Motegi East, as that weekend prior, i will be up in Boston for the AnimeBoston convention.

Turn-out wasn't the best over in B lobby with only 6 drivers, but I did enjoy drafting my MSM buddy all 3 races for about 10 laps a piece, have some brilliant clips to show ya also of how a Brit makes his move on another car Wink

Will say though, the Vauxhall was my Hockenheim tune we made WAY back at the start of the series before we switched to the M1 at last minute, just maxed front aero, halved rear, softened roll bars, doubled the suspension and increased the diff (with some Damping settings), and the car handled BEAUTFIULLY! pretty sure i managed a 1.18.0 whilst fighting traffic, cut the tenths of for early braking/entry reckon that car was capable of a high 1.17 at least!

Good racing anyways, still pissed I got cut off 30 seconds before qualifying.
